The building concept is the result of a combination of elements representative of the 'Louis Vuitton' brand (fabric) and the historical context of 'PC Hoofstrat street' (terracotta bricks). The fusion of these elements creates a tailor-made suit that 'dresses' the transparent glass box inside that contains the functional spaces for retail. Light passes through the 'porous' brick façades that take their cue from the textile technique (warp and weft), naturally illuminating the interior of the building during the day and transforming it into a lamp at night, becoming a landmark for the street. The physical qualities of the façades (materials, proportions, shapes, skyline) create a relationship with the city context, without compromising its historical character, emulating the old building rather than imitating it, in an innovative and authentic way. The aim of the project is to achieve high architectural quality and at the same time achieve a low environmental impact by using innovative construction systems and sustainable materials throughout the building's life cycle.
