The “Palazzo Lagravinese” located in the heart of the historic center of Cisternino, considered the most representative building for the local community, has been the object of special attention for the intrinsic value it represents; recognized as a work of historical-artistic interest, it has been the subject of a careful restoration and re-functionalization in order to destine it as a museum. The project required a thorough study of the historical and constructive characters and a meticulous analysis of the state of decay in order to draft the project and plan the works. The interventions were conceived having in mind two objectives: the first to bring back to light, through a conservative restoration, the original structure with its splendid hidden or degraded decorative installations; the second, given the new intended use, to adapt and refunctionalize it through new installations and architectural works, which by inserting themselves with discretion and respect for the past are recognizable in their contemporaneity, giving the building another passage to its historical stratification.
