Trullo Fogliarella

The trulli complex is located on top of a hill overlooking a remote and untouched area of the Itria Valley, surrounded by oak woods and Mediterranean scrub. The project involved the recovery and extension of the existing buildings and was carried out with great care and attention so as not to distort the magic of the place. The use of traditional building materials and techniques made it possible to keep intact and authentic the appearance of this particular and characteristic form of historical architecture, while creating spaces that respond to contemporary needs and lifestyle. The restoration also involved the surrounding area, recovering the terracing made up of dry stone walls that contain the slope and form a podium on which the trulli complex stands; these were used to create a system of spaces for outdoor use and gardens.
