Palazzo Lagravinese

Palazzo Lagravinese

Cisternino, 2015

The most important building in the historical centre of Cisternino as far as the local community is concerned, the Palazzo Lagravinese was carefully restored in keeping with its special intrinsic value. Recognised as a building of artistic and historical interest, it was restored and converted into a museum.
The project required a thorough study of historical and constructive features and a meticulous analysis of the state of degradation in order to be able to define the project and plan the work.
The restoration had two goals in mind: the first was to bring to light, through conservative restoration, the original structure with its by then hidden or damaged decoration; the second was to restore the building to a usable condition and adapt it for its new use through new systems and architectural features that, inserted discreetly and with respect for the past, are recognisable in their modernity and add another historical layer to the building’s past.
